3. Mole Ratio method
- According to the mole ration and concentration of Sio2 and Na2O, It has a lot of useful function
- Mole Ratio of potassium silicates = weight ratio of SiO2/Na2O Ⅹ1.57

4. The color and condition : Colorless and odorless

5. The specific gravity
- The specific gravity of potassium silicates are ranging from 1.15 ~ 1.6 at20℃
- When the TEMP is climbing, the specific gravity is going down.

6. Viscosity
According to the mole ratio and concentration and temperature,
The viscosity of potassium silicates in liquid is changed.
Viscosity is lower with high temperature
Viscosity will be increased by higher mole ratio at the same concentration
They are ranging from 5 ~ 1,500cps at 20℃

7. pH
Normal pH ranges of potassium silicates in liquid are 10.5 ~ 14.0.
The pH value is changeable according to the mole ratio and concentration.
The pH value is increased when the mole ration is decreased (K2O content.↑)

8. Reaction with acid
pH is going down when potassium silicates in liquid reacts with acid(neutralization reaction), polymerization with SiO2 occurs to potassium silicates in liquid, in the results, brings gelation and precipitation of SiO2.

9. Reaction with ions of iron
When potassium silicates in liquid reacts with ions of Zn, Mg, Al, Ca, Ba,
It produces hydration of insoluble silicis metal and silicic acid at once.
In the result, gelation occurs.

10. Reaction with organic compounds
Glyoxal or ethylene-glycol-acetate, acetoacetic ?ester in alkali condition produce glycolic acid and acetate and make the galation of potassium silicate with neutralization.
When it reacts with Methyl alcohol ,ethyl alcohol, acetone, it can be gelation also. But the gelation is from dehydration simply, so it can be dissolved with water again.

11. dehydration transition
Dehydration of potassium silicates in liquid can be occur at 1,000℃ above,
At 120~500'C, vesicular occurs, and then at 600~1000'C, vitrification occurs
but the basic properties are not changed.
95% is dehydrated at 200'C after that the slow dehydration to be followed.



1. Coating material for metals and construction
Potassium Silicate has many good applications for metal surface, mortar for decoration, concrete and brick. Film of potassium silicate is not make frosty bloom because of carbonate. Colorless and transparent properties can preserve the property of paint pigment and can produce clean, excellent color products. Potassium silicate property of non-blooming can give you lots of application.

2. Inorganic paint with water solubility
Potassium silicate to be mixed with Zinc can be used in fomites for protecting film of ECO- friendly and water-soluble paint without VOC. When it is used for steel bridge and various steel constructions, it forms film which is excellent abrasion resistive property, impact resistance and itself-cure has outstanding ability in corrosive environment and marine environment.

3. Soap and Detergent
You can use potassium silicate in detergent application for metal surface cleaner and resistance convert to phosphoric acid . It can provide to the advantage of neutralization of acid soil and soap of oil and re-precipitation. with K2O. In a detergent for metal surface to be made of phosphate, SiO2 and K2O make phosphate stable. Potassium silicate also provides advantage of K2O alkali and protects metallic material from corrosion.

4. Refractory
Can be used in various refractory industries. Specially, it shows good working property, when it is used in powder and lime of silica.

5. Fluid fertilizer
Potassium Silicate is used in nutriculture soil condition and eco-friendly cultivation techniques providing to minimizing water-contamination and high productivity and qualification, overcoming of repeated cultivation. Potassium Silicate fertilizer can be expected for high- durability because melting velocity is very slower than fast-acting fertilizer(compound fertilizer, ammonium sulfate, urea). In addition to that, it has lower possibility to be spilled to river so it brings to lower nature contamination. Because K2O slowly dissolves in weak acid that is made from the root of crop and is absorbed effectively, Potassium Silicate makes it possible to diminish the number of fertilizing and prevents soil from acidification. Therefore, it has advantages that makes crops strong and endures illness.

6. Coating material for welding rod
Naturally, sodium silicate was used for welding rod because of stable ARC in DC equipment. But sodium silicate shows unstable ARC in AC equipment. In the results, sodium silicate is replaced by Potassium Silicate. Potassium Silicate forms smooth and silent APC that is important point to AC welding and stainless steel.

7. Electrode coating binder
When potassium silicate is mixed with organic compounds and deflocculating agent and metallic oxides graphite on the surface of TV, PC monitor, Oscilloscopes, Rader Screen , cathod ray tube , funnel , it can be additive for conductive coating material.
